  • Transition, Adaptation and Action in Padilla Bay / Transición, adaptación y acción en la Bahía de Padilla

    This exhibition was presented by the Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, in collaboration with Helena Sarah Richardson (Artist), David Frye (Fabricator), Brooke Love (Scientist), Western Washington University, and J.B. Silvers (Fabricator). The Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is a center of research, restoration, and education about this valuable estuary. The eelgrass meadow, the largest in Washington, teems with life, including hundreds of thousands of wintering waterfowl, masses of economically important fish and crab, and a complex world of benthic invertebrates.

  • Solid Foundation/Permeable Walls Cimiento sólido/Muros permeables: Education & Outreach at MoNA

    This exhibition illustrates the myriad ways the Museum of Northwest Art’s mission is built and strengthened through creative collaborations with our community. Visitors can explore how MoNA's Education and Outreach programs draw upon the solid foundations of the museum’s service to the community to dissolve barriers and invite the community in to actively participate in the building of MoNA’s educational programs. You are invited to engage with the interactive display to create and express your own unique place in MoNA's community.

  • Learning the Language of Art: MoNA Link Student Art Exhibition/ Aprendiendo el lenguaje del arte: Exhibición de arte de los estudiantes de MoNA Link

    This exhibition of student art is much more than wonderful pictures on the wall; it is a celebration of the learning and accomplishments of the K-12 students and teachers that participated in the MoNA Link program in 2022 working to integrate art into classroom curriculum using many different art media.

  • Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls: Honoring Our Stolen Sisters / Mujeres y Niñas Indígenas Desaparecidas y Asesinadas: Homenaje a nuestras hermanas robadas

    This exhibition was curated by Patricia Christine Aqiimuk Paul, Esq. and Candice Wilson ~ Quatz’tenaut. The Museum of Northwest Art is presenting Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls: Honoring Our Stolen Sisters to remember, honor and bring awareness to the thousands of Native women and girls who go missing or are murdered each year.   • Migrant Youth / Chicana Perspectives: Living in Multiple Spaces / Jóvenes Migrantes/Perspectivas Chicanas: Vivir en Múltiples Espacios

    This exhibition was curated by Marilyn Montúfar, the Migrant Leaders Club, and Underground Writing—a literature-based creative writing program, and features a collaborative series focused on mentoring and photographing female migrant youth with heritage in Mexico. The participating youth are mentored in art by photographer, Marilyn Montúfar, and in self-expression through writing by Matt Malyon, Executive Director of Underground Writing.

  • Illuminating Skagit / Iluminando a Skagit

    October 23, 2021 - February 13, 2022

    This exhibition was curated by Holli Watne, Community Engagement Coordinator and Arts and Science Educator for Skagit Watershed Council, and Richelle Potter, Art and Science Educator and Luminary Arts Teacher for Friends of Illuminated Wildlife. Designed to take you on a luminous journey throughout the Skagit watershed, visitors were invited to explore luminous examples of our watershed’s wildlife and habitats. If you liked this exhibit, you’ll love the annual Illuminight Winter Walk in downtown Mount Vernon.

  • Standing, Still / En pie, aún

    July 3 - October 10, 2021

    Standing, Still was co-curated by Danielle New and Hanna Corneliussen, emerging museum professionals and students at the University of Washington Museology Graduate Program. This exhibition strove to capture both the societal standstill caused by the pandemic and the resiliency of communities, who have emerged still standing after their experiences. Eleven artists explored the topic of COVID-19 through first-person narratives and creative expression. You can hear interviews with ten of the artists featured in this exhibition here.

  • Stars in the Sky / Estrellas en el Cielo: Camp Korey

    January 23 – May 9, 2021

    The art in this exhibition was created by young artists connected with Camp Korey. The camp, located in the tranquil Pacific Northwest outside of Mount Vernon, WA, is a proud member of Paul Newman’s SeriousFun Children’s Network. Camp Korey is driven by passionate supporters, volunteers and community partners to bring year-round camp programming to children with life-altering medical conditions always 100% free of charge.

    This exhibition featured the prints of artist Rachel Lodge and was guest curated by Lianna Hamby as part of her Master’s Thesis from the University of Washington’s Museology Graduate Program.

    The Barn Shows: 1987 – 2003

    January 25 - March 15, 2020

    This exhibition was inspired by The Barn Shows Book by Lavone Newell-Reim and photographer Cathy Pearson Stevens, which shares personal stories and photos of forty plus artists that chose the Skagit Valley as their place to live a simple life devoted to art.  Drawn by the scenic countryside, fertile farmland and masses of wildlife, all centered by the majestic Skagit River and bordered by Puget Sound.
