Granite Calimpong

Granite is a versatile multimedia sculptor, creating art using ceramics, wood, glass, metal, light, and photography. His work is intricately tied to its surroundings, considering how it will be created, displayed, and shared. Material exploration is Granite's passion, with an affinity for materials like clay, glass, wood, metal, light, and color, which he's spent years mastering. Granite's art often delves into perception, exploring how optical illusions and color affect our understanding of the world. He aims to unravel the complexities of the human experience while celebrating their love for materials, their fascination with color's emotional impact, and their unique sense of balance and form.

Granite holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 3D4M (ceramics + glass + sculpture) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of California San Diego, with a minor in Studio Arts. His art journey has included various residencies and a rich history of exhibitions in galleries and museums. They've also shared their knowledge through teaching in institutions like Pottery Northwest, Pilchuck Glass School, and the University of Washington.
