Zentangle 101: An Introduction to Mindful Drawing
Class Date: Saturday, September 5 from 1-3pm

In person class in the MoNA second floor gallery space. All supplies included!
Curious about Zentangle? Be inspired by the calm of MoNA’s permanent collection while diving into this mindful method of creativity! This beginner-friendly class introduces the relaxing and rewarding method of creating beautiful images using simple, repetitive patterns. The Zentangle Method is easy to learn, requires no previous drawing experience, and invites you to slow down, focus, and enjoy the creative process one line at a time.
In this class, you’ll learn the foundational steps of Zentangle, including how to create a “string” (the light framework for your design), how to draw several classic tangle patterns, and how to add shading that brings your tile to life. As we work, you’ll discover how small, simple strokes gradually build into surprisingly intricate and satisfying artwork.
Zentangle is not about perfection or artistic skill—it’s about curiosity, attention, and the quiet pleasure of making marks on paper. Many people find the process calming, meditative, and deeply enjoyable.
By the end of the class, you’ll complete your own Zentangle tile and gain the confidence to continue exploring patterns on your own. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with the tools and knowledge you need to keep tangling at home.
Come as you are—no art background required. If you can draw a line, you can create a Zentangle.
