The Museum of Northwest Art encourages artists interested in Surge to attend the Meet and Greet event on Saturday, February 7, from 1:00-2:30pm. Artists will have the opportunity to meet scientists from the Skagit Climate Change Consortium and start meaningful conversations about a potential collaboration. Exhibition Curator Chloe Dye Sherpe will discuss the process and timeline of the exhibition, followed by a panel discussion involving past participants in Surge and time for attendees to converse about collaborations.

The title of Surge 2026 is Surge: A Geography of Flow. The exhibition seeks to expand on past iterations of Surge that examined displacement and agency by exploring boundaries, currents, and the complex systems that drive the movement of people, plants, animals, and natural elements as a result of climate change.

The Meet and Greet will be an opportunity for artists and scientists to meet and socialize with one another with the goal of choosing a collaborator to work with to create artwork for Surge 2026.

Light snacks and beverages will be served.

This event is not open to the general public.
