Finding Yourself in Art, A Creative Writing Workshop with Tara Campbell - A Humanities Washington Talk

  • Museum of Northwest Art 121 1st Street La Conner, WA, 98257 United States (map)

Have you ever looked at a painting or sculpture and wondered what inspired the artist? Or tried to imagine the story behind an artifact?

Engaging with different artworks and curated items around the state, author Tara Campbell invites people to form a new relationship with a gallery or museum through creative writing. Go beyond the wall plaque to see new ways of looking at an object or a piece of art through guided observations and writing exercises. Along the way, we’ll forge new relationships with art, the museum, and one another.

Tara Campbell is a writer, teacher, fiction editor at Barrelhouse, and graduate of American University’s MFA. Her 2024 novel City of Dancing Gargoyles was a finalist for the 2025 Philip K. Dick Award. She’s the author of two novels, two hybrid collections of poetry and prose, and two short story collections.

Cost: Free to the public!
