My Adult & Me Mixed Media Class w/ Rachel Simpson

In this fun mixed-media art class, students will join Ms Rachel Simpson in making a forest scene of birch trees and your animal of choice to walk through the trees. We’ll collaborate in the art project together in pairs, as we learn how to draw and paint in a wide variety of materials, experiment with different kinds of painting methods, use our imaginations to add an animal in your woodland world, and share our creations with each other.

Ages: 5-12 years old and adult collaborator (parent/caregiver)
Cost: $35 per adult & child pair ($30 participation, $5 materials fee)
Date, Time, Location: Saturday, May 11 from 10:00am - 1:00pm. In-person class in MoNA’s Art Studio.

How to Register for a Class

  1. Click the orange “Add to Cart” button.

  2. Fill out the registration form and click the “Add to Cart” button.

  3. Click on the orange shopping cart icon in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  4. Click the orange “Checkout” button.

About Rachel Simpson:

Rachel Simpson has been making art throughout her whole life. Both her parents were artists in music and visual art, while she’s also been influenced by the Pacific Northwest, & many books. In 2007, she went back to college to study the arts, and graduated from Western Washington University with Bachelors in Fine Arts and Arts Education degree in 2013. Currently, she’s an artist/art educator, owner of Rachel’s Whimsical Arts, on the Board of Directors & Teaching Artist with Allied Arts of Whatcom County, experience as an Art Educator with the following: Teaches After School Art Enrichment Programs, BellinghamART, the Museum of Northwest Art, (MoNA) in La Connor, WA, Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA, Franklin Academy in Bellingham, WA, schools throughout Whatcom County, and at Whatcom Community College, (WCC) in Bellingham, WA. MoNA’s Class Cancellation Policy

If MoNA cancels the class, the student has two options:

  • 100% Non-transferable refund 

  • Generously choose to donate the full amount to support MoNA's Education Programs. The student will receive a letter acknowledging their donation for tax purposes.

If the student decides to cancel the class, they have the following options based on timing of cancellation:

  • Cancels seven days or more before class: 

    • The student has the option of 100% non-transferable refund or can generously choose to donate the full amount to support MoNA's Education Programs. The student will receive a letter acknowledging their donation for tax purposes.

  • Cancels less than seven days before the class or a no show:

    • The student is not eligible for a refund. These funds will be considered a generous donation to support MoNA's Education Programs and the student will receive a letter acknowledging their donation for tax purposes.

General Amenities and Accessibility Information

  • The facility is wheelchair accessible and an elevator is available in the back of the building

  • A wheelchair is available for visitors

  • Limited seating is provided throughout the galleries and studio space

  • Restrooms are available on both floors of the museum. Changing tables are available in the restrooms on the 2nd floor and an all-gender restroom is available on the 1st floor of the museum
