We are excited to share with you the Museum's Statement of Institutional Commitments to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). In May of this year, the Board of Trustees approved the statement, which lays the foundations for continuing to build a culture of equity and inclusion at MoNA.

The Museum recognizes that this task requires more than a written statement but an ongoing and intentional commitment to making diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility the values shaping all aspects of the institution.

We aspire to see these values reflected in the diversity that permeates the organization, from staff and board, to membership, audience, and partnerships to the artists whose work is exhibited in the Museum’s galleries or selected for inclusion in the permanent collection.

The goal is to be a welcoming place where all members of the community experience belonging.

The first step in building an equity and inclusive culture is awareness. Followed by the actions the institution is willing to take to correct any existing inequity and move toward a more equitable organization. The Statement of Institutional Commitments to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility is a living document—meaning we will adapt it to our successes and challenges as we implement it.

Please get in touch with us with questions or thoughts about our commitments to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility. We plan on periodically sharing our actions and results through this blog with transparency and accountability as guiding principles.
