Poetry Writing in the Galleries with Elizabeth Bradfield

Join Elizabeth Bradfield, founder of the collaborative journal Broadsided, for a short introduction to writing poetry in response to visual art! This is a free event co-hosted by Poets on the Coast, which invites you to be inspired by the art in MoNA's galleries and other poets in the community. You will have the opportunity to have your work published on MoNA's website and to read it at the Poetry Open Mic on September 27th. Refreshments will be provided in celebration of the 15th anniversary of Poets on the Coast and the MoNA Store will remain open until 6pm to celebrate!

About Susan Rich:

Writer/Naturalist Elizabeth Bradfield’s (she/her) books are SOFAR: Poems, which includes poems that were published in The Atlantic Monthly, The Sun, and Orion and contains several poems inspired by her work with sculptor Janice Redman; Toward Antarctica; Once Removed; Approaching Ice, which was a finalist from the James Laughlin award from the Academy of American Poets; Interpretive Work, which won the Audre Lorde Prize in Lesbian Poetry; and the anthologies Cascadia Field Guide: Art, Ecology, Poetry, co-created with CMarie Fuhrman and Derek Sheffield and winner of the 2024 Pacific Northwest Book Award and Broadsided Press: Fifteen Years of Poetic/Artistic Collaboration, co-created with Alexandra Teague and Miller Oberman. Her honors include a Stegner Fellowship and a Massachusetts Cultural Council Individual Artist Grant. Liz works as a naturalist and field assistant at home on Cape Cod, directs the Poetry Concentration for the Western Colorado low-residency MFA, teaches creative writing at Brandeis University, and is Editor-in-Chief of Broadsided, which publishes folios of collaborations between visual artists and writers.

  • Restrooms are available on both floors of the museum. Changing tables are available in the restrooms on the 2nd floor and an all-gender restroom is available on the 1st floor of the museum
