Join us for an afternoon featuring artist Nancy Mee in conversation with MoNA's Director of Curatorial Affairs and Curator of Northwest Art, Christian Waguespack, as they discuss her path as an artist, looking back over five decades of her career to interrogate both the personal and cultural construct of the female body.
This event will include a casual discussion about select pieces from MoNA’s collection with Christian Waguespack, a conversation with Nancy Mee, and time for a Q&A.
This conversation is a part of MoNA’s Member Salon series - a series of talks curated especially for our members - designed to dive deep into artistic topics of the Northwest. View the exhibition Femina Lucida: The Art of Nancy Mee, guest curated by Matthew Kangas, on display at MoNA until May 3, 2026.

About Nancy Mee:
Nancy Mee, born in the San Francisco Bay Area, studied printmaking at the University of Washington, earning her BFA in 1974. In 1972 she trained at Atelier 17 with S.W. Hayter, learning multicolored etching techniques that later informed her innovative use of photographic imagery. During her final year at UW she met artist Dennis Evans, whom she married in 1980.
A pivotal shift in her artistic direction came during her 1984 residency at the Pilchuck School, where she began experimenting with fused and slumped glass, expanding the scale and expressive possibilities of her work. In 1994 she was selected as one of seven international artists to create work on the theme of Justice for the Center for Contemporary Art in Beychevelle, France, later exhibiting the completed pieces at Château Beychevelle.
Mee’s sculptures combine glass, steel, bronze, stone, and photography, and her work appears in numerous public and private collections.
